Do you know that we are at a pivotal time in education? Our blackboards have been replaced by whiteboards and some of us even have Smart boards. We no longer tie our kids to just paper and pencil tasks (ok, maybe some still do) or make them sit at their desks all day long; we actually give them opportunities to create products by collaborating and using innovative trends in technology. The world has transformed, the workplace has changed, and we cannot be stuck in the same old classroom using the same tactics and gizmos of the 70s. It’s time to open new doors for ourselves and especially for our students. There are so many web tools out there --- wikis, webcams, podcasts, blogs, just to name a few. All these will promote their creativity and enhance their desire to learn. I know it’s hard, but we’ve come to the edge …. do we need someone to push us over or do we have the courage to take the leap?

ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the hard work you and Ingrid put in on your presentation. Your editorial is right on! We are at a pivotal time in education and if we don't move forward, our kids will trample over us and our jobs will become extinct. Do you agree?
